With only two days left, last minute electioneering campaigns reached their peak for next Wednesday's by-elections in the eleven Jatiya Sangsad constituencies in six districts, reports BSS.

The Election Commission has already announced a ban on public meetings and processions for 48 hours from midnight tonight in the byelections areas.

Voters, numbering over 23.64 lakh in the constituencies are expected to go to 909 polling centers to choose their representatives from among 49 contestants.

The ruling BNP and the opposition Awami League have fielded their nominees in all the seats In Dhaka, Chittagong. Rangpur, Bogra. Madartpur and Bhola districts

Election of the eleven members will complete the 330-member 5th Jatiya

BNP chief, Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia who was elected In five seats in the February 27 elections vacated four seats-two In Dhaka city (Dhaka five and nine), and one each In Chittagong and Bogra. She has retained the Fcnf scat.

Out of remaining deven seats, four were vacated by ousted President H M Ershad tn Rangpur district. He was also elected from five seats In Rangpur.

One seat each was vacated by Tofael Ahmed (Awami League) 1n Bhola and Abdur Razzak (AL) in Madartpur both of them were elected from two

seats. The remaining scat In Madartpur fell vacat following the death of Awami League member Dy as.

Four candidates each nominated by the BNP, Jatiya Party. Awami League and Jamaat-e-Islaml is contesting tn Rangpur one, two, five and six constituencies.

Besides one independent candidate, the nominees of Awami League. BNP and Jatiya Party are fighting for the Madartpur one scat while two independent candidates and the nominees of BNP. JSD-lnu. Jatiya Party and Awami League are in the race for the Madartpur two seat.

A triangular fight will be held tn the Bhola two scat between the nominees of Awami League, Jatiya Party and BNP.

Seven candidates are In the race for each of Dhaka five ahd nine constituencies and four tn Bogra seven seat.

Straight fight between BNP and Awami League will be held In Chittagong eight constituency.
