Education Minister Prof AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury on Wednesday said that the present examination system should be made attractive so that the students get delight In it and the fear of examination is removed from their minds, reports'BSS.

He said we must also find out the causes of adopting unfair means in the examinations.

Prof Chowdhury was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural session of a two-day na-tional workshop on "improvement and reforms of examination system" held at the National Institute of Educational Administration and Research (NIEAR) in Dhaka.

About 50 eminent educationists and education lovers are taking part in the workshop. organised by the Ministry of Education.

The objective of the workshop is to suggest measures to improve and reform the existing examination system to check adoption of unfair means in the examinations as well as to evaluate the standard of knowledge of the students.

The inaugural session was also addressed by the State Minister for Education. Principal M Eunus Khan, chief of the planning cell of the Ministry of Education Dr M Fazlul Karim Chowdhury, and Joint Secretary of the Ministry Ahmed Hossain. Education Secretary ANM Eusuf presided.

The Education Minister said education should be made attractive and life-oriented to create eagerness for education in the minds of the students.

Referring to the present unattractive text books which are printed on low quality papers, he said measures should be taken to make the text books attractive.

He also emphasised the -need for a clean and natural environment in the campus.

He said natural view should be created by planning trees in the campus in a planned way. He pointed out that the Islamic University campus in Kushtia with its large modern buildings look barren as no tree was planted there.

Principal Eunus Khan gave emphasis on 50 per cent es-'say-type and 50 per cent objective-type questions to discourage adoption of unfair means. He said at the same time several sets of questions should be printed so that students sitting side by side do not get the same set of questions.
