More jawans from the Comilla Area have been sent to Urir Char and Sandwip to Join the Chittagong Area troops already engaged In relief and rescue operations there, reports UNB. \

Chief of Army Staff Lt General Muhammad Noor Uddin Khan visited different cyclone-hit areas Saturday to see for himself Army relief activities.

Chittagong Area Commander Major I General Mahmudul Hassan also visited various f affected areas to supervise the activities of the troops of his area.

Army personnel from the Dhaka Cantonment supplied 70 thousand rutls' (bread) from their own ration. A BAF transport plane air-dropped them in different affected ares of Kutubdia. Moheskhall and Sandwip.

Army personnel from Comilla Cantonment also, sent 40 thousand rutls. from their own ration for distribution among the marooned people.

The Comilla Area troops so -far distributed 50 thousand rutls, 540 kgs of sugar, 42 cartons of biscuits. 10 cartons of baby food and 200 tins of frozen meat in different cyclone-hit areas. The Chittagong Area troops so far arranged burial of 1200 bodies. They also treated 10 thousand people and distributed Taka 85 thousand in cash. 500 tons of rice, 85 tins of biscuits, 32 maunds of chlra. 733 packets of emergency fxi ration and 51 thousand rutls among the distressed people. ,

Bangladesh Navy has set up a relief camp at Kutubdia for smooth distribution of relief goods among the cyclone victims

Two more navy ships with relief goods reached Monpura island this morning. Relief goods included chlra. gur. medicine and clothing.

Bangladesh Air Force transport aircraft today carried out several airdrop missions at Sandwip. MoheshkhaH and Kutubdia braving unfavourable weather. Aircraft also carried relief goods to Chitta^ng airport for distribution to the offshore Islands.

BAF helicopters also carried huge quantity of relief goods to different coastal areas.

Officers and airmen of BAF are working round the cluck to despatch cooked food and other essential items from its own source.
