**Political workers belonging to the same party now clash frequently in course of campaigns following altercations on the issue of Gulf war. Reports of such Incidents, from scuffles to heavy clashes, among the polls campaigners have been received from countryside.

Political leaders engaged in hectic electioneering are also sharply divided on the issue though representing a single party. Pro-Saddam and antiSaddam groups pay more attention to the developments of war than ihe electioneering.**

The town turned into a veritable garden of banners, placards, posters, festoons and election camps. Evcrsince the submission of nomination papers by the contenders electioneering got underway in remarkable manners. Tea stalls arc making brisk business and people who earn a living by painting placards and banners arc not logging behind.

Sixty-seven persons arc contesting in six constituencies of the district in the election. Fifteen-party alliance, BNP. Jamaat, Jatiya Party, Za-kcr Party and JSD(Rab) arc contesting in all six seats while JSD(Siraj) and JAGPA are contesting 4 seats each. Janata Party 3 scats, JSD(lnu) and Workers Party two scats each. Freedom Party and Muslim League arc contesting in one scat each. Thirteen independent candidates are also contesting in five scats. Our Correspondent adds BNP chief Begum Khaleda Zia called upon the people of Jca-sore to rally round her party in order to make the nation prosperous. She was addressing a public meeting at Jessorc Town Hall maidan on Wednesday. District President of BNP All Reza Raju presided over the meeting. The BNP chief said that her party would remain firm in upholding, the spirit of Bangladeshi nationalism and protecting the independence and sovereignty. If voted to power, her party would surely .strive for eco nomic emancipation the people.
