NEW DELHI. Feb 1 : Indian cricket authorities expressed outrage on Thursday al a brawl which erupted between Internationals Rashid Pate) and Raman Lamba in the final of the domestic Du lee p Trophy tournament, reports Reuter.

Patel attacked Lamba with a stump in the game between West Zone and North Zone on Tuesday, sparking a riot among spectators who tried lo set parts of the stadium on fire, and stoned the players

The spectators were finally dispersed by police using wooden batons

Board of Control for Cricket in India chief Madhav Rao Scindia said a committee would meet on Monday lo in-vcstigalc the incident.

The version of the incident which I have read makes the

incident outrageous, shameful and shiKklng." Scindia said.

"Such reprehensible actions by some cricketers smear the fair name- of the game Nobody Is alxrvc the game and thoac who violate cricket’s spirit have no right lo be part of this sport."

Former Indian captains Mansur All Khan Pataudi and Bishen Bedi called for harsh penalties.

The disgraceful incident has brought the game into disrepute. Pataudi said. The prin ctpal actors should be banned from playing cricket for some period and the slate associations lo which they belong should be fined heavily

Bedi blamed the incident on indiscipline among senior cricketers who he said had set a bad example.
